The Last Actor: Filming Day's 9 and 10

It's Tuesday morning and i've been up since 7:30 am. When i woke up it felt like it I had slept in to 2 in the afternoon. But no. It was all from going to bed at 8pm last night, catching on the calamity of the past weekend of filming.

Saturday: Shot the very first scene of the film up at Ellsion Park at 6:30am. Was up early since I slept in the wallmart parking lot in my car. It was really beautiful there with the mist in the morning and the green trees. I'm glad i waited til the trees bloomed to film this scene. Went home and took a nap then went to a little party then hit the road.

Sunday: 360 Miles later we arrived at destination, got what we needed, then drove back to Roc City to film the bathroom scene. Got back at 1pm and shot the bathroom stuff at 2, went good, then got some pretty sweet montage footage, then went and got some midiocre chineese food.

So yeah, every scene is shot. The only other thing I have to shoot is some pickups and some more montage stuff. Now starts the six months of post.

The Last Actor: Filming Day 8

Shot the last two scenes sequentially of the film today.

Had some major sound issues. The hallway we were shooting at at the village gate had an entire construction crew in the next room with band saws and more funness the entire time.

Both scenes went pretty smooth none the less though. Early shoot tomorrow. Rock and Roll.

The Last Actor: Filming Day 7

Short day today, just shot the flashforward scenes. All went well. Made up some funny stuff on the spot that should work out pretty well.

Got the footage back from Kodak today as well. Looks pretty swell. It's nice to have an editor. Just three more shoots then we'll be all done-aroo.

The Last Actor: Filming Day 6

We finished up interiors in the office today. So all in all, there are only 4 scenes left to shoot out of the entire 13 scene script. It feels really good to be done with all the office stuff and we got done pretty early around 1pm today. Got some good cameos in during the big walk through scene and the coffee scene.

Crew and actors all had a good time and we got all the shots we needed and and good performances, the art direction was lacking but again, all a learning experience.

Gotta get all this film to kodak on monday to get it processed so i can get my ruff ruff cut in by screenings. Like i've told many people before, but not you mr. blog, is that the plan is to have everything shot by the end of the quarter. It doesn't matter if i don't get everything processed back before then though. The second quarter cut will be quite ruff, but i really don't give a poop cuz i have an entire 6 months before i have to turn in and show the final final cut. So all things considered everything is going according to plan.

The Last Actor: Filming Day 5

Wow am i tired. We shot about 5 pages today from 9 to 5 but we had like a two hour period where we couldn't shoot cuz we were waiting for the lead actress to get out of a test and get to location.

It was bring your kid to work day and this guy who worked at the office we shot at had his 3rd grade son, so he sat and watched us do some filming. He was pretty cool, we talked about The Sandlot and The Mighty Ducks movies.

Going to shoot again tomorrow at the same place so it was nice being able to leave the equipment all there. I'm just happy that it's all finally rolling and things are getting done. Sure it's not Citizen Kane but it's all a learning experience, still a film student, still figuring it all out.

Once tomorrows shoot is done I'll be much less stressed the bajezus out.

The Last Actor: Filming Day 4

Did a one page scene today between Toby and I. Did it without any crew but drew and timko which was a pain, but we still got it done in less then 200 ft so its all good. It's that time where i realize that i have other classes with things to do. We'll see if that happens. I want to make a movie without anything else to do but making that movie. Fuck RIT.

The Last Actor: Filming Day 3

Today we shot two scenes down at the Village Gate in the Office of the nice people of the Rochester Ad Council. It feels really good to have that stuff shot. Was stressin out hard core last night. Didn't go to bed til 6am, but wasn't tired at all cuz i was so wired. Shooting on film is a adjustment, with my biggest issue just being able to trust that we got the shot and not being able to watch the take right afterward.

Now its time to finalize and get art direction for next weeks big shoots, gah.

I don't think anyone is keeping up with this like people do with Jon Favreau's Iron Man 2 filming updates but whatev It'll catch on, and he'll be totally jelly up on my shnot.

The Last Actor: Filming DAY 2

So today was the second official day of filming for The Last Actor.

Shot all montage material today. Got some pretty sick stuff, went downtown, and to Ontario Beach. Saw a huge dead fish. Got pulled over by the cops. Ran down mainstreet full speed. Climbed some walls and bridges. Ate some good pizza.

Had a fun time and got good footage, could you ask for anything more?
