Dear Blog,

It's me Dan. I know we havn't talked in a while, I hope you can forgive me. Things have been a little crazy here on planet earth.

Did you know that Thursday derives from the old english word Thorsday, Thor the Nordic God Thor. Pretty cool huh. Well i thought so. I've been telling people all day.

I saw a kid on campus today who was pulling one of those backpacks with the wheels and long handle. I was like "what a pussy, put it on your back like a man, it's called a backpack, not a roll behind you pack", but then i thought maybe he had scoliosis or some sort of disorder so i felt bad about how i judged him so quickly and harshly.

I think i sprained or over extended my ring and pinky fingers climbing yesterday. The tendons feel all funky. I went to webMD to look up some info, but then it asked my email address to continue so i was like Fthat and i quit.

I almost bought a can of Sparks at 7/11, but then i didn't.

I want to practice riding on the top bar of my bike so i can ride it into the side of a bridge and flip off into the water. I think that would be pretty sweet.

There is this kid in one of my Shakespeare classes that i want to ultimate punch in the face. I think he's a time traveling teachers pet sent here from the 4th grade to annoy the balls and ovaries off everyone in class.

Still working on the script. I try to get it finished every night. Hopefully this will be that night.

Senior Thesis: doodlin

So I've been writing my senior thesis...

Here is what i drew the character of The Ghost of Stanislavsky (Stan) to be.

In the final movie he'll be a real person with proportionate arms and all that cool stuff.

BK Lounge, you just lost a customer

Alright, so two things happened at the same time. I was hungry, and I was driving. So I decided to stop at the local BK Lounge (Burger King).

They are doing a special Indiana Jones promotion thing now so I ordered a Kids Meal to get a sweet Indiana Jones toy that the nice little sweat shop children made just for me. The lady with a mustache gave me the bag, yes she really really had a mustache, and it was really really dark.....

The bag had the Indiana Jones logo on it and all of the 8 toys that may be inside. I was pumped to say the least. I opened up the bag and who was inside? Indy in the mine car? Indy running from the giant boulder? Indy on a Pyramid?

NOPE

It was SpongeBob FUCKING SquarePants!

WTF

Seriously, I've never been so pissed.

BK Lounge, I thought we were friends, and now you pulled this trickery.

SportsZone: Hockumentary

So back in November for my Job at SportsZone we shot this thing called the Hockumentary. At SportsZone we come out with a new half hour show every 2 weeks. Usually we have four short segments in the show of different RIT sports. But for this episode we decided to do something a little different by doing a more documentary cinema verite style approach. Over the course of two full shooting days we followed multiple people who make a Division I Hockey weekend all come together at RIT happen including the players, the coach, the rink crew, the equipment manager and even the Zamboni guy Stu. For this episode and all the rest of the show I was in charge of all the camera people and crew shooting, getting them together and organized and such. It was a bitch organizing this one, because we were following so many people doing different things all over campus at the same time. But we got it all figured out and it came out pretty good. For this particular episode I shot all the coach footage and helped edit as well. We won a Platinum Telly Award for this episode a few weeks ago too.

My Experimental Film

Bad Idea

So I was at the Walmart looking for something that I didn't find.

Then I saw Chocolate Skittles. I like Chocolate. I like Skittles. So I bought them.





Bad Idea.

I could barely eat a handful of them without hurling.

I'd rather lick the inside of drainage pipe in Jersey than have to eat one more of those things.

Senior Thesis

So I'm making my senior thesis next year.....yeah i know. WTF. I'm meeting with a professor tomorrow to ask him to be my adviser for it.

The Film is based off a dream I had a few weeks ago that freaked me out hard core. The dream was only Act I and part of Act II though. So I gotta figure out how it all ends and such. I've been thinking a lot, and have some pretty cool stuff in there.

It's going to be wicked awesome.

My Rant on ROC Loop

So my friend Aaron taped me doing a rant the other day during screenings sign up about my greedy landlord, and now its on the internets.

Update

So I finished my film at 10am this morning for my 11am screening.

It took three tries to export it correctly.

The first time it went through the entire 22 min to export then the file it created wouldn't open. So then I tried it under a different compression. Under the new compression it f'ed up the aspect ratio, so i tried it again with the original one and thankfully that worked after another 22 min of converting.

And even more thankfully some dude was really late letting people into the auditorium so the whole screenings started a half hour late. Which gave me time. Then I was texting one of my friends who was at screenings getting constant live updates and I also told her to tell the host to stall between films. It felt like I was in a freaking movie, like I was going to be late on some drug raid or something.

By the time the DVD was almost done burning I was screaming Daniel Plainview lines to let out all my frustration.

I got to screenings with my movie right as the person before me was finishing.

my winter film

Alright, so week 10 has ended, I'm finally going to have my winter one quarter film done tomorrow.

I shot the last pickup shots today and did all the ADR with Roger. Tomorrow I have to finish color correcting, place in the shots I did today, do ADR with Denise then smooth over the sound.

It will debut in the Carlson building Sunday February 23rd at 11:00am.

So the teaser trailer comes out tomorrow sometime between 8 and 9am on the morning show of ABC, and it will also show before The Spiderdick Chronicles coming into theatres tomorrow.

This is what my school serves on MLK day

I had to do three tough things today.

1. Be on a rock video shoot for 13 hours.

2. Try not to get sad about Heath.

3. Explain NEDM to a friend.

Experimental Film Class

So my experimental film teacher is the kind of lady that would get a raging female boner over watching a two hour film of a plastic bag blowing around in the wind.

With that fact in mind I made this video in a couple hours and showed it to her and my class as my final project. She didn't like it at all, it was hilarious watching her taking it seriously and picking apart its "artistic" meaning (lulz).

I turned in something completely different for screenings. I'm still trying to find that file.
