Friday=Awesome

Had a pretty radical day.

Went on a sweet 5 miler.

Road with 80+ other bikers around the city then too Pittsford for Critical Mass. It was really fun being in such a big group taking up the whole side of the road.

Was at the Pittsford plaza at 7:45 and sprinted back to Rochester to catch the 8pm show of House of Wax 3D with Vincent Price. It was pretty awesome. They used two projectors to show the image and the old process still holds up really well compared to the Digital 3D of today. There was an intermission in the middle of the film to change reels. These two things really had a nice nostalgia of watching 3D the old school the same way people used to 60 years ago.

Then went to Manhattan Square Park for the start of the an Alley Cat race. There were about 20 other racers. I was riding a bike i just bought that i just purchased from a friend a few days ago so i haven't had the time to tune it up or clean it yet. But it still road alright all things considering. For the race we went from checkpoint to checkpoint, but at every checkpoint you drew a card from a person there to a different checkpoint, but sometimes you drew a "go to jail" card and had to go to jail. So everyone was pretty much going all over to different places the whole time collecting "space bucks". Raced from 10:30pm to 12:30am straight all over the city from the Amtrak station, to Frontier Field, to Java's Alley, to The Village Gate, to Manhattan Square Park, to the Jail house, to Blue Cross Arena and other places around the city. By the end of it was was damn wicked tired. After the main race they did a skid competition, a balance one then a sprint comp. Got home around 2am then went to Denny's and had the best food i have ever eaten there cuz i was so hungry.

Thursdae

Woke up wicked late.

Got shampoo and conditioner from wegmans to make my hair purdy.

Went on a little 2 miler.

Went to The Comedy Club for the monthly open micapalooza. Singed up for one of the 5 lottery spots, and got it. Was pretty nervous all up until the point of getting on stage again. It's weird, like right up into that moment insecurities and second guessing assault my mind, but as soon as i grab the mic it all vanishes. Had a full crowd of over a hundred people which was awesome. Went up and mixed up my set a little bit with sprinkles of new stuff and it really felt good. Was just in the zone as one would say. Went over time by not noticing the Red Light of "wrap it up", but its all part of making mistakes and learning from them. Felt really good and had a lot of fun.

Wednesdae

Helped some friends move out of their Roc apt as they are moving to NYC tomorrow.

Went on a really good 5 mile run, had a good strong finish listening to rocky music.

Went to Comedy class in webster and learned some neato stuff.

Went to the Open Mic at Sullys bar. Performed some new material in front of a whopping one patron. yay sullys. Seriously its the same as telling jokes to a cardboard box.

BUT, performing again this coming Sunday at The Comedy Club in Webster for the class Graduation show at 7pm. Should have an actual crowd there which will be pretty rad.

Went to a bar to meet up with a bunch of people to say goodbye to my departing friends to NYC. Was pretty fun.

Tired.

Tooosday

Did a nice little 2.5 miler.

Went to Wegmans.

Got this awesome 8-Bit Weezer album.

Went and saw (500)Days of Summer. This movie more than any other in a long time did the most important things you can do in a film. I felt connected to the main character Tom played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I felt his happiness, his pain, his confusion and loneliness throughout the film. The film is a realistic portrayal of a modern romance. One that is every adjective in the book. The film illustrates through hopeless romantic Tom's point of view the entire relationship of one girl named Summer. Starting from the day they first meet-> through courting->relashionship->downfall->breakup-> till the day he finally moves on completely.

The non-linear structure of the film really helps illustrate the entire arc of Tom and Summers relationship as we get to see Tom crushed early on, then get too see how he got to that point, then how he gets better. It realistically shows how the male hopeless romantic mind works like no other film I've seen before it. It's definitely good to see a romantic film geared for a male audience and perspective. I could spoil the ending and moral of the story, but its far better to just go see it and experience it for yourself and make your own conclusions. I know I've been saying that about a lot of films lately, but it's just been a incredibly awesome week of watching films with this one, District 9 and Inglorious Basterds.

Wrote 15 more pages of my first feature length script tonight. Going to get the first draft done before school starts on the 7th of Sept.

It's 5am, damn.

monday

Went for an awesome 7.5 mile run today.

felt real damn good

Watched Bad Taste, Peter Jacksons first feature film today. It took him 4 years of filming on weekends to do it. Sure it had its flaws but it was definitely good inspiration in that if you want to do something, you just gotta go do it. And do it your way.

also did some laundry, rock and roll, yeah

Sundae

Just got back to Rochacha tonight.

Saw Inglorious Basterds last night. FUCKING AWESOME. So far my favorite film of the year. Go see it. And I have found a new love with the french actress Melanie Laurent. wow. marry me.

Went to an Indian Casino today for my friends bday. It was interesting seeing tons of geriatrics sitting at all the slots plunking away their money in hopes of good luck.

Saturrrrdayyy

In Wlsv.

Had an unpleasant encounter with a post office employee today. This dude looked like a mangy homeless dog, like he's been in a Vietcong POW camp for 20 years. Of course looks can be deceiving but his personality was much worst. Idk what it is but sometimes I really like it when someone i don't know is pissed or mean to me. It just gives me the chance to practice some acting and see what happens for fun. This instance probably wasn't the smartest idea, him being a postal worker and all. But it was still fun nonetheless.

Went to Darien Lake for the Blink-182 Reunion tour yesterday. It was pretty sweet. Tons of people. Got pretty good spots for lawn seating area. The light and technical aspect of the show was really good too. Took forever getting out, and almost ran out of gas but everything turned out well, except there being a road kill skunk on the road every 5 miles. Seriously it was disgusting, like someone was just planting them there like a big 70 mile obstacle course back to Wlsv. I half expected a red turtle shell to be thrown at me for good measure.

Going to go see Inglorious Basterds tonight.
Freaking Pumped.

BACK

Back from a week hiatus.

Well what has been going on? you say.

Well listen to this. i say.

THURSDAY 8/13
Drove to Natick Mass last Thursday, in the best time I have ever accomplished, with 5 hours and 15 min. Well in a car. Saw my one dog who is really old and fat now. Saw my other dog who is cremated and in a box now. Hung out with the rents. Watched TV for the first time in month or so or since I've been to Wlsv. Watched a bunch of Comedy Central stand up which was good.

FRIDAY 8/14
Watched more stand up on Comedy Central. Hung out with the rents.

SATURDAY 8/15
Rode down to NYC with the rents. Met up with RIT dudes in SoHo, then walked across the Brooklyn Bridge to the Vimeo Super Meet up in Brooklyn. Saw a bunch of other RIT peoples. Met a bunch of cool vimeoers and other people that just crashed the party. Did some major dancing. Up very late/early.

SUNDAY 8/16
Had some NYC pizza. Went and saw District 9 which was awesome. Went to a Good Burger, home of the good burger, may i take your order.

MONDAY 8/17
Went to Coney Island then to Harlem, then back to Brooklyn then Back to Harlem.

TUESDAY 8/18
Woke up at 6am in Harlem, caught a Bolt Bus from 34th street to Boston. Got to Boston at 1pm. Drove from Boston to Rochester. Got to Rochester 10 min before my comedy class in Webster. Tired as fudge.

Went on a good 5 Miler shirtless...scandalous.

Went to Comedy Class in Webster, got lost on the way cuz i was talking on the cell phone while driving and missed the exit.

Went to Lux.

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

just another manic Monday, whoah ee oh

Yeah that was a lame header.

Whatever.

Today's 5 miler kinda sucked, it was wicked hot and humid. I raced this guy for about a mile kinda creepily. He passed me then i just ended up following at the same pace 2 feet behind him. My brain just went into race mode, I guess it was kinda creepy being that close thinking back on it, but at the time it didn't go through my head.

Did some comedy class reading down at Boulder Coffee.

Went to the dollar theatre with the dudes and saw Terminator Salvation. I saw it before but it was still fun. But seriously, the biggest gripe I have with that movie is all the girl characters in the movie look like they are straight from a Garnier Fructis commercial, you are in the apocalypse in war against the machines everyday of your life yet you still have time to perfectly shampoo, condition and stylize your hair. Bullshit.

no Sun day

Rainy rainy stormy stormy day.

So i watched 4 movies.

1. Julien Donkey-Boy: A film by Harmony Korine shot under the rules of Dogma 95. Filmmaker Werner Herzog played the role of the father in the dysfunctional family the film depicted. He was awesome in every scene he was in. It was also one of the most beautiful films shot on video I've seen. Def check it out.

2. G.I.Joe: You know what. I enjoyed this. The 12 year old inside me enjoyed it, and so did the 22 year old. It is what it is, a big dumb effects action movie. The action scenes were pretty cool and well staged, and the whole underwater battle was something i was pleasantly surprised with. It was cool to see Joseph Gordon Levitt play the role of Cobra Commander. But by far the best part of the film was Sienna Miller. Seriously, Damn. Check it out if you were ever a 12 year old boy at one time in your life, if you weren't, then don't.

3. A Perfect Getaway: I figured out the big twist 5 min into the movie. But it was still alright, and the structure and character development of how they dealt with this twist was interesting. The cinematography was nice, but it never hurts when you're shooting in remote beaches of Hawaii. Rent it.

4. Ken Park: Written by Harmony Korine and the perfect movie to watch with your grandparents.

Also performed stand-up tonight at Boulder Coffee. Wasn't originally scheduled to do it but when i walked in to watch the person who runs it said some people didn't show up and asked if i wanted to go up, so i was like sure why not. The crowd was pretty good tonight, and i felt really good the whole time up there. During the beginning of my set this girl started talking on her cell phone, in the front row no less, so i tried my shot out at heckling her for being Jar Jar Binks style rude.

saturrrday

Went for a sweet 5 mile run today. Went through a bunch of places I've never ventured through in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Drank from this leaking old water pump. The water looked clean, i just hope it wasn't run off from the dead. So who knows, maybe I'll be possessed tomorrow or something.

Got a free vacuum cleaner and some pots from the neighbors yard sale.

Went to the Rochester 175th Anniversary commemorative Laser Light show at High Falls. It was pretty funky weird. They had all these weird children's songs to creepy looking laser people, then these little vignettes of famous rochesterarians like George Eastman then this dude called Rattlesnake Pete. It was all very odd.

Played a bunch of pool while listening to sick music.

FRI=DAY

Slept in. Late.

Ate some pretty dang good sushi.

Went to this sweet Museum called The Powerhouse where it was all installation art. Some really groovy stuff in there.

Went to a dog and cat museum.

Drove back to America.

Stopped by Mighty Taco, not as good as i remembered when i was a kid.

Still tired from dancing last night.

ThurzDay

Went to Toronto in America Part II with a couple friends.

Ate an amazing Prime Rib pizza.

Saw Crookers, this DJ duo from Italy at this dance club. To put it frankly, it was sick as fuck. Danced my ass off. Had an awesome time. Met some really cool local girls and dudes. Didn't go to bed until 7am. Toronto is awesome.

Wed Nes Day

Watched the French action/parkour film District B13 Ultimatum, the sequel to District B13 which was in turn direced by the Frenchman who directed Taken, which were both bad ass. There weren't any subtitles or dubbing, but I could still follow the story pretty much. But the story and the dialog were not this films strong points to begin with. Here its all about the fights and the parkour chases, and it definitely delivered. My only complaint is that it needed a stronger climax, it built up to one, but it just didn't culminate. Nevertheless, it was still pretty sweet. And I strongly recommend checking it out once they get subtitles on it, and most definitely check out the original.

Went for a 6 mile run, down to the river and back. Am really enjoying the pull up bars down near the walk bridge on the UofR campus. I checked out some of that campus today, and it has quite a lot of places to do some sick shit. RIT is pretty dry on that department.

Ate an awesome slice of pizza from Marks.

Went to my first day of stand up class up in Webster at The Comedy Club. So far so good.

Came back and watched Cannibal: The Musical with a bunch of peoples.

Shpadoinkle.

Tues Day

Road a bunch of trails on Pinnacle Hill then up to these woods north east of the city. Got shown up by a bunch of 12 year olds doing gnarly jumps. Got eaten up by insects in the woods. Climbed this cable across this forest canyon thing. Didn't do the whole span, but am going to next time when we have a camera.

Went and saw the fantastic documentary film Food Inc. I felt very uneasy the whole movie as more and more information spilled off the screen. If you are living person, and you eat food, you should watch this movie. CHECK OUT THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE. Seriously, check it out. Most recommended film of the year... so far. GI Joe has yet to come out.....

Climbing in the woods

taken on camera phone, better ones to come.

Mon Day

Today today today was a beeootiful day outside.

Took Geno for a walk to go meet Reggie.

Went for an awesome 7 mile run, to Park Ave, up to Highland Park, through the cemetery, climbed over a fence into UofR, and back home.

Went and saw Year One at the dollar theatre with all the dudes. It was actually quite funny, and i enjoyed it thoroughly. This was the kind of movie that did not take itself seriously and just had Jack Black playing Jack Black and Michael Cera playing Michael Cera which worked out well. I have always liked having modern dialogue in ancient and historical times for comedy. Whenever i think of the past i imagine all the cool people like Marco Polo and Leonardo Da Vinci talking all sarcastically and witty instead of the stiffs like most movies portray them.

Everything was going fine until i stopped by a friends place and on the TV was the most disgusting commercial i have ever seen. Not just the most disgusting commercial, but the most disgusting thing i have seen this year. It was an add for Miracle Whip, where they put at least six spoon fulls of this stuff on a burger, and the lady squeezed it, and it came gushing out the side. Seriously i barfed in my mouth. Fuck that shit.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Jesus balls, orange creamsicle pop tarts are a travesty to mankind and everything that is beautiful and good in this world.

It is the culinary equivalent to a toxic waste dumb.

I just needed to vent this, and to warn others.

Open Mic @ The Comedy Club in Webster

Sunday Sunday Sunday

Woke up sore as a something vulgar. I looked at my feet and they were black as charcoal. Took a nice shower then walked down to Highland Diner and had an amazing ham and cheese omelet, spicy hash browns and wheat bread.

Then I drove down to Wellsville and Canisteo to partake in two big family reunion bonanzas with family all in from all over the USandA. Played Texas hold'em with a bunch of relatives which was pretty fun. Heard some messed up stories involving things I dare not say.

Missed the first night of Shark Week :(
